Traditional Bird Hand Embroidery on Cotton Guatemala (14" x 26")
Exquisite hand embroidery done by women in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala. We bought this vintage panel on a recent trip to Guatemala. This is the traditional cloth used in men's pants or women's blouses of the Tz'utujil Maya people. There is very fine detail in each unique bird. The handwoven cotton cloth i white with deep purple stripes. There are horizontal embroidered stripes in deep purple too. Small birds in gradations of colors from pale peach to pinks, blue and greys, yellows and grey, and browns and greys.
This could be framed and hung on the wall or made into a pillow. We can't get over how beautiful these embroideries are. One of a kind.
