The Basketry of the Ye'Kwana

Baskets are an essential part of the daily life of the Ye'Kwana of Southern Venezuela. this style of basket known as the Wuwa is used for carrying heavy loads such as firewood and cassava. The women weave the Wuwas and decorate them with figured from their traditional stories that explain the world in which they live.
