Handmade Wool Felt Pony Black Rug Afghanistan (30x48)

Beautiful 100% wool felted rug. Handmade by a Turkmen artisan group in Afghanistan. Colors: charcoal with heathered oatmeal spots on a natural heathered grey oatmeal background. There is a off white woven border sewn around the whole rug. These rugs are very versatile. It will last forever if in a low traffic area. But we had one at the shop at the front door that lasted  over 3 years before someone wanted to buy it as is. 

NOTE: this is a hand made rug; expect slight variations with the size. Each horse image is unique; expect variations in how each horse is depicted on every rug. 

Turkmen Kilim Weavers Weaving

In the heart of rural Afghanistan, a rich tapestry of tradition and resilience is woven. Turkmen artisans, both men and women within the cooperative, meticulously craft one-of-a-kind Kilims. Sourcing wool from local sheep herders, men hand dye the yarn while women take the lead on the sorting, spinning, and everything else - preserving centuries-old techniques. Each Kilim, a masterpiece woven on traditional looms, reflects the unique artistry and heritage of the Turkmen people.
