Direct from Ukrainian Folk Artist Lesia Pona- Pysanka/Ukrainian Easter Eggs. Ukrainians have been decoration eggs creating these small jewels for many generations. Archeologists have discovered ceramic Pysanky in Ukraine dating back to 1300 B.C. The symbolism comes from the ancient Trypillian culture. For Ukrainians, the Pysanka brings good fortune, wealth, health and protection to the home- and it is also a symbol of life, because our planet looks like an egg.  We are selling these to help support Lesia during these terrible times in Ukraine.

Lesia Pona Folk Art

Lesia Pona learned embroidery from her mother and went on to study at Lviv Academy of Arts. A mentorship with a Ukrainian master embroiderer solidified her commitment to her craft and her passion grew. After gaining experience in art projects and marketing, she founded Pokuttya Folk Artists group to help her colleagues maintain high standards, reach a wider audience –and make a living from their work.
