Hand Embroidered Maoon Kantha Silk Scarf India

Hand embroidered Maoon style kantha silk scarf. The embroidery is stylized off white design of fine stitching, including houses, leaves, flowers, and other motifs, on a very deep blue silk. A different geometric stitching pattern on both ends and as an outline to the main design. The silk is soft with a nice drape. This would go with everything! So beautiful, you will want to wear it every day. 

This scarf was made by a social enterprise of women in Kolkata. We met the founder when we were in India. She started the enterprise 30 years ago as a way to keep alive this kantha stitching technique. The enterprise trains and supports more than 700 women in rural Bengal. The embroidery is fine and this is truly a one-of-a kind piece.
