Anillado Figurine Medium Peru

The anillado technique (cross stitch looping using 1 needle ) is a remarkable technique practiced over 2000 years ago by the Paracas and Nazca cultures. The technique was thought lost but in 2017 the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco (The Center For Traditional Weaving) worked with ten Peruvian associations to revive the tradition. The pieces in our collection are made from hand spun alpaca yarn, natural dyed. The figures represent ancient gods and serve as a bridge between past and the present, preserving this unique art form for the future.
